Introducing Kong-ui Bogam (콩의보감)
Located in the heart of Taean County, Chungcheongnam-do, Kong-ui Bogam is a unique restaurant that offers a delightful culinary journey into the world of beans. Nestled in a peaceful countryside setting, this charming eatery is run by a local farmer Mr. Lee, who has been in the farming business for over 30 years.
Farmer’s Delight
Inspired by the health benefits and the unique flavors of various types of beans, Mr. Lee dedicated his 16,500㎡ farmland to cultivating numerous bean varieties. He pondered on how to elevate the humble bean and make it more valuable, leading him to learn different bean recipes through an agricultural technology center.
From Farm to Table
This passionate farmer then participated in the 6th ‘Paju Long Bean Cooking National Competition’, showcasing dishes like bean steak and bean salad. Surprisingly, he won a gold medal, which boosted his confidence and sense of accomplishment. Bolstered by this triumph, he decided to start his own restaurant, using tofu made from his homegrown beans.
