Welcome to Sancheong Yulsuwon, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Sancheong County, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. As a traditional hanok accommodation, our aim is to provide our guests with a unique experience that combines comfort, relaxation, and a deep immersion into Korean culture.
Named after the expression from “Decade of Wen Wang” of the Classics of Poetry, our hanok stay facility embodies the virtues of our ancestors and serves as a place for guests to learn and cultivate these values in their own lives. Established by JEI Corporation, one of Korea’s major education companies, Sancheong Yulsuwon is not only a cultural facility but also an educational center, reflecting the company’s philosophy of promoting a wholesome environment of educational culture.
Situated in the picturesque hanok street of Sancheong County, our hanok structure is renowned for its exquisite design and attention to detail. Spanning across an area of approximately 2,975 square meters, our accommodations have been built following the principles of divination based on topography.
Upon entering through the main gate, Yeongsumun, you will be greeted by the Anchae (inner house), the outer Sarangchae (detached building), and the bathroom. The arrangement of these buildings holds a special significance, symbolizing the harmony between nature and architecture. The kitchen represents the green dragon, the bathroom the white tiger, the inner Sarangchae an Ansan (a low and small mountain), and the outer Sarangchae and the main gate a Josan (a high mountain behind Ansan). Together, these structures create a tranquil sanctuary that embraces the Anchae, named “Hagyejae” meaning “modesty.”
Each room at Sancheong Yulsuwon is designed to provide a blend of traditional aesthetics and modern comfort. Decorated with hanji windows that allow natural light to filter into the rooms, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including jars, trees, flowers, and a low stone wall with a tiled roof. With en-suite bathrooms and modern-style kitchens, we strive to ensure that your stay with us is both luxurious and convenient.
Beyond the walls of our hanok, you’ll find yourself in a prime location for exploring the wonders of Sancheong County. From the valley of Daewonsa Temple, enveloped by majestic Geumgang pine trees, to the Namsa Yedamchon village with its ancient red clay and stone walls, there is an abundance of cultural and natural attractions to discover. Don’t forget to visit Jeongchiwam Hermitage, Traditional Buddhist Temple No. 83, where you can marvel at the Buddhist Painting of Mountain Spirit.
At Sancheong Yulsuwon, we invite you to experience the beauty of traditional Korean culture and unwind in the embrace of nature. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, education, or a memorable getaway, our hanok accommodations are the perfect choice for an enriching travel experience.
