Welcome to Mokimdang, a charming hanok (traditional Korean house) that offers a unique and historic experience in Ganae Village, Jeollanam-do Province. As a tourist, you’ll have the opportunity to stay in a beautifully remodeled house that holds great cultural significance.
Mokimdang is the birth home of Soh Jaepil, also known by his pen-name Songjae, an influential independence activist of Korea. This house has been immaculately preserved and was even featured on the popular EBS program, Architectural Investigation, House in 2020. You’ll truly feel a connection to the past as you step inside.
The entire house is available for rent, making it the perfect choice for families or groups of friends. With three rooms, two restrooms with bathtubs, a kitchen, and a courtyard, there’s plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy their stay. Two of the rooms are fitted with an ondol, a traditional under-the-floor heating system, while the third room offers beds for a comfortable night’s sleep. Each room can accommodate up to two people, with a standard occupancy of four and a maximum occupancy of six. Please note that there is an additional charge for each extra guest, except for children under 24 months. We’re also happy to welcome your furry friends, as Mokimdang allows pet dogs on the premises for a small fee.
To ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible, we provide amenities such as towels, shampoo, a hairdryer, an iron, a dryer, and a washing machine. However, please remember to bring your own toothbrush and other personal toiletries. The kitchen is fully equipped with a coffee maker, gas stove, microwave oven, utensils, a refrigerator, cooking tools, and basic seasoning like salt, pepper, and cooking oil. We want to make sure that you have everything you need to cook up a delicious meal or enjoy a hot cup of coffee.

That’s why we offer services in English to ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable experience during your stay. Plus, we’re conveniently located near some fascinating attractions. Daewonsa Tibetan Museum is just a 10-minute drive away, while the Buriram Hermitage of Songgwangsa Temple can be reached in just 20 minutes.
