Welcome to Ihwa Gotaek, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of South Korea. As a tourist, you are in for a truly remarkable experience as you step back in time and immerse yourself in the rich history of traditional Korean architecture.
The main attraction of Ihwa Gotaek is its stunning hanok, a traditional Korean house, which has stood for over 120 years. This remarkable building was meticulously transplanted from its original location in Buan’s local Confucian school in Jeollabuk-do, and now stands proudly on our site. To the left, you will find another equally impressive building with a history of approximately 70 years, forming a harmonious architectural duo.
As you explore the grounds, you will discover the essence of hanok architecture. The open wooden-floor spaces known as numaru, toenmaru, and jjongmaru, are lovingly preserved, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty and authenticity of these traditional spaces.
When it comes to accommodation, Ihwa Gotaek offers a choice of eight rooms. For larger groups, there is a spacious four-person room, with a maximum occupancy of eight. Alternatively, we have seven cozy two-person rooms, perfect for couples or small families, with a maximum occupancy of four. Each room is equipped with its own attached restroom, ensuring your comfort and convenience throughout your stay.
To enhance your experience, we provide complimentary seasonal refreshments. Whether it’s a refreshing sweet rice punch called sikhye, or a delicious shaved ice with sweetened red beans known as pat bingsu, our in-house creations will tantalize your taste buds. And for breakfast, we offer a delightful spread of traditional Korean dishes, including bibimbap, rice cake soup, black sesame porridge, and bean-powder-coated rice cake, all served in traditional bronze tableware.
At Ihwa Gotaek, we believe in offering more than just a place to stay. We provide our guests with the opportunity to truly engage with Korean culture through our traditional cultural programs. From the mesmerizing pansori (epic chant) performances to the serene tea ceremonies, the captivating natural dye experiences to the intricate Korean paper art workshops, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, as our valued guest, you can avail of a 30% discount on hanbok rental, allowing you to dress up in traditional Korean clothes and truly immerse yourself in the local culture.
Ihwa Gotaek is not just a place to rest your head; it is an invitation to step into the past and embrace the beauty of traditional Korean life. Come and experience the warmth and authenticity that our hanok offers, and create lifelong memories in the heart of South Korea.
