Welcome to Haemaru Healing Forest, a picturesque guesthouse nestled at the foot of Duryunsan Mountain in Haenam. As a tourist, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views of the mountain, cypress grove, and Wondo Beach, all visible from the main floored hall room. It’s no wonder that guests often describe the scenery as ever-changing and mesmerizing.

Located in a specially designed “hanok village,” Haemaru Healing Forest offers a unique experience of staying in traditional Korean houses that reflect the rich heritage of Jeollanam-do. This area is also renowned as “Haenam Kimchi Village,” thanks to its famous cabbages grown in the natural environment and used to make the iconic Korean dish, kimchi.

Within Haenam, you’ll find three distinct villages: the “Green Experience Village,” “Farm Stay Village,” and “Resort Village.” The public swimming pool, managed by the villagers, is a popular attraction, with ticket sales exceeding KRW 100,000,000 annually. Additionally, Haemaru Healing Forest’s strategic location provides easy access to nearby nature destinations such as Wando Cheongsando Island, Gangjin Dasan Chodang, Jangheung Cheongwansan Mountain, Woodland, and Yeongam Wolchunsan Mountain.

Immerse yourself in the renowned Jeolla-do cuisine during your visit to Haenam. This region is famous for its culinary delights, and we highly recommend trying the local food to truly savor the flavors of Korea.

The traditional Korean guesthouses of Haemaru Healing Forest were built by villagers for visitors seeking a day of relaxation in nature, away from the bustle of city life. Using natural pinewood and red clay from Gangwon-do, the authentic Korean houses were constructed with traditional Korean tiles from Goryeong. The name “Haemaru Healing Forest” reflects the owner’s vision of providing a place where guests can truly unwind and share their stories.

The main building, called “anchae” in Korean, boasts a spacious floor area of 72m², accommodating up to 25 people. Complete with two rooms, a large living room, and a kitchen, this building is equipped with all the amenities you’d expect in a cozy home, including a sofa, television, air conditioner, refrigerator, and table. For smaller groups, the “bakkatchae” or “detached house” offers a comfortable single room with a capacity of six, complete with an air conditioner and bathroom.

Owned by a couple who divide their time between Seoul and Haenam, Haemaru Healing Forest is a labor of love for these nature enthusiasts. Their cherished kitchen garden is home to organic lettuce, perilla leaves, and chili peppers, which guests are welcome to try. Additionally, a range of experience programs is available, including traditional Korean games like yunnori, dadeumi, and jwibulnori. The exciting jwibulnori game, played with the consent and participation of the villagers, involves spinning cans of flames attached to a stick or sling. For those interested in learning the art of kimchi making, the guesthouse owner’s younger brother and sister-in-law, who run a kimchi factory in the village, offer step-by-step classes.

Whether you’re seeking tranquility amidst nature, an opportunity to immerse yourself in Korean tradition, or a chance to indulge in the region’s delectable cuisine, Haemaru Healing Forest promises an unforgettable stay. Book your stay today and let our picturesque surroundings and warm hospitality create lasting memories for you.
