Welcome to Gangneung Ojuk Hanok Village, the heart of Gangneung’s cultural heritage and a true gem of Korean traditional architecture. Here, you will experience the essence of the Korean hanok, a traditional house that embodies excellence and simplicity.

Located in close proximity to the renowned Ojukheon House, the birthplace of Yi I, a prominent Korean Confucian scholar, this village was built to promote the ideas of Yi I and showcase the outstanding features of the hanok to the world. As you explore this cultural space, you’ll be captivated by the rich history and traditional charm that permeates every corner.

Gangneung Ojuk Hanok Village boasts a range of 51 guestrooms, each providing a unique and authentic experience. From separate houses to duplex-style accommodations with an upper floor, there is a room to suit every traveler’s preference. Notably, our “Aeilje” house is designed to cater to the needs of physically disabled guests, offering amenities such as an entrance ramp and spacious wheelchair-accessible bathroom facilities. Additionally, guests have the opportunity to utilize “Samuljae,” a lecture hall that can accommodate up to 40 people, free of charge for up to two hours.

We take pride in our commitment to sustainability, and our “Geoga” house exemplifies this dedication. This hanok-style passive house is equipped with a solar-paneled roof, ensuring an energy-saving and eco-friendly stay for our guests.

Beyond the village itself, you’ll find Ojukheon House, a significant historical site where both Yi I and his mother, Shin Saimdang, were born. Gyeongpo Lake, renowned for its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere, is also just a stone’s throw away. And for those interested in sports, the Gangneung Olympic Park, a venue for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, is a mere 1.8 kilometers away.
