Welcome to Boryeong Eunhaeng Village, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do. As you step into this enchanting village, you’ll immediately be captivated by the breathtaking sight of ginkgo trees lining the streets. It’s no wonder this place is also known as “Cheongna Eunghaeng Maeul” or “Green Rural Tourism Village.”
One of the village’s most striking features is the vibrant murals that adorn the walls, beautifully complemented by the ginkgo trees that surround them. But it is during autumn when these trees transform into a sea of dazzling yellow, creating a picture-perfect backdrop for your visit.
The village has creatively repurposed the Janghyeon Elementary School, which closed its doors in 1991, into a lively marketplace and local experience venue. Here, you’ll find a variety of permanent hands-on programs that allow you to immerse yourself in the local culture. From making beautiful mosaics with ginkgo leaves to the fun-filled activity of shaking and gathering ginkgo leaves, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Now, let’s talk about how you can get here. If you’re coming from Central City Terminal or Seoul Nambu Terminal, you can take a bus to Boryeong Bus Terminal. From there, transfer to Bus 901, which will take you to Haedong Mart, Singwayngjang, and Terminal. You’ll want to get off at Myeongmundang Sageo-ri (four-way intersection) Bus Stop, which is just five stops away. Once you’ve disembarked, take a short 95-meter walk and make a right turn at the first street. From there, catch Bus 608-1 (bound for Sinsan, Hwagang) at Nonghyup – Boryeong-si District Bus Stop and get off at Janghyeon Bus Stop, which is around 20 stops away. The village will be waiting for you just 260 meters to the right.
Whether you’re a nature lover, an art enthusiast, or simply seeking a unique cultural experience, Boryeong Eunhaeng Village promises to enchant you with its natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere. Embark on a journey to this peaceful oasis and let the charm of the ginkgo trees and the warmth of the local community embrace you.
