Pocheon Hwajeokyeon Campsite: A Mystical Experience

Pocheon Hwajeokyeon Campsite

Does the idea of camping with a touch of mystery appeal to you? If so, the Pocheon Hwajeokyeon Campsite is the perfect destination. This campsite, nestled in Sajeong-ri, Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, is known for its unique rock formation, the Hwajeokyeon, a Scenic Site No. 93, which sits right next to the campsite. This intriguing formation, coupled with the beautiful scenery, makes for an unforgettable camping experience.

Introduction

The campsite is strategically located next to the Hantan River, where you can find a gigantic rock with a peculiar shape resting in the river. The rock formation, which resembles a stack of rice straw, once earned it the name ‘straw stack rock’. The picturesque landscape was so remarkable that it was even painted by the famous artist Jeong Seon. The campsite itself spans a whopping 19,834㎡ and features 41 auto camping sites. These sites are divided into three sections: A, B, and C, characterized by crushed stone and gravel. If you’re bringing your caravan, the spacious and vast deck at sites B or C is highly recommended.

The campsite is well-equipped with facilities such as restrooms, showers, and water stations. The restrooms are particularly noteworthy as they are kept warm during winter. Moreover, the restroom stalls are decorated with painted images of animals like lions and giraffes, which are a hit with the younger visitors. The shower areas are well-maintained, and are locked after 11 PM for cleaning. Please note that the campsite is closed from December 1, 2018, to February 28, 2019, so plan your visit accordingly.
