National Namhae Cypress Forest Retreat

Experience the health benefits of phytoncides emitted by cypress trees in the National Namhae Cypress Forest Retreat, a perfect camping spot nestled within a lush forest.

About the Retreat

Located on the eastern slope of Geumsan Mountain, at an altitude of 681m north of Hallyeohaesang National Park near Namhae Sea, the National Namhae Cypress Forest Retreat offers breathtaking views of the Namhae Sea along with a rejuvenating forest bath. Cypress trees are known to release phytoncides, organic compounds with antibacterial properties that enhance lung function and promote expectoration, making the retreat an excellent destination for a forest bath. Opened in 1998, the retreat covers an area of 2.27 million㎡ and has a daily capacity of 305 people.

Accommodations and Facilities

The retreat offers various types of accommodations. Visitors can camp directly on the camping deck, bring their camper vans, or choose from a range of accommodations including cabins. Due to its popularity, bookings during peak season and weekends are made through a lottery system. The retreat amenities include forest houses, camping grounds, forest exploration paths, water playgrounds, children’s playgrounds, forest classrooms, sunrise viewing decks, walking paths, mountain climbing routes, grass fields, and fitness facilities.

Following the hiking trail up the mountain, visitors can visit the Bohram Hermitage. From the viewpoint at the summit, they can enjoy the splendid view of large and small islands of Hallyeohaesang National Park and the beautiful scenery of Geumsan Mountain. Nae Mountain Reservoir, located just below the retreat, is a popular fishing spot, and visitors can also enjoy fishing in the nearby sea.
