Initially designated as Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 154, it later became an Incheon Tangible Cultural Property when Ganghwa became part of Incheon Metropolitan City. In January 2001, it was officially recognized as Historic Site No. 424 of Korea, solidifying its importance in the nation’s heritage.
How to Get Here
If you’re traveling from Seoul, there are a couple of convenient ways to reach Ganghwa Anglican Church:
- Sinchon Station (Seoul Subway Line 2), Exit 4: From the station, head straight for about 260m until you reach the bus stop in front of Artreon. Take Bus 3000 to Ganghwa Bus Terminal and then transfer to Bus 88. Get off at Suhyup Bus Stop, which is just two stops away from your destination.
- Yeongdeungpo Station (Seoul Subway Line 1): Located across from Shinsegae Department Store, you can take Bus 88 from here. Simply get off at Suhyup Bus Stop, and you’re just a short walk away from Ganghwa Anglican Church.
Once you arrive at Suhyup Bus Stop, continue walking straight for about 400m and take a right turn at Ganghwa Jungang Market. You’ll then walk for another 130m, and you’ll find the awe-inspiring Ganghwa Anglican Church standing proudly on your left.
