It is said that King Sukjong himself was captivated by the stunning paintings of the “Eight Scenic Sights in Eastern Korea” and proclaimed Mangyangjeong Pavilion as the best among them. He even personally wrote Gwandongjeilru (The Best Pavilion in Eastern Korea) and ordered it to be displayed here.

A Historic Relocation and Rebuilding

Originally situated in Hyeonjongsan Mountain in Hyeonjong, Mangyangjeong Pavilion was moved to its current location in 1858. Over the years, it has been meticulously preserved and rebuilt, with the latest restoration taking place in 1958.
