Mangyangjeong, one of the eight scenic spots of Gwandong, was built on a beach hill in Mangyang-ri, Gisung-myeon, but during the reign of King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty, Chae Sinbo moved it to the foot of Hyeonjongsan Mountain in Mangyang-ri because it was old and dilapidated. After that, it was repaired by Yun Hee-in of Anryeonsa Temple in 1518 (Middle Kingdom 13) after it fell during a storm in 1517, and in 1860 (Cheoljong 11), Lee Hee-ho of Uljin County moved it to its current location in Dunsan-dong, Sanpo-ri, Geonnam-myeon, along with Lim Hak-young, the county governor.
