Discover the Historic Nongam Head House in Andong

A Glimpse into the Past
Nongam I Hyeon-bo served as Saganwonjeongeon in 1504 during the reign of King Yeonsangun. However, due to the king’s anger, he was exiled to Andong. Originally located in Buncheon Village, the head house had to be relocated when the village was submerged following the construction of the Andong Dam in 1976.
A Fascinating Restoration
Thanks to the dedication and efforts of I Seong-won, a descendant of the Yeongcheon I family, the head house, shrine, and Geunggudang (a Confucian ceremonial hall) were moved to one location. In 2007, the site was further enhanced with the reconstruction of the iconic Bungang Confucian Academy, now known as Bungang Village.
