Located just 2 kilometers away from the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Paju city, this former US Army camp now serves as a unique peace and security experience facility. As the first youth hostel to be located within a restricted area for civilians, Camp Greaves offers an unforgettable opportunity to learn about the history and significance of the Korean War.
A Historic Landmark
Camp Greaves holds a significant place in South Korea’s history, having served as a camp base for the 506th US Second Infantry Division for approximately 50 years after the ceasefire agreement of the Korean War. In 2007, the land was returned to the Korean government and was transformed into a facility that aims to promote peace and understanding. Today, visitors can explore the remnants of this military camp and gain insights into the events that shaped the Korean peninsula.
Your Home Away from Home
At Camp Greaves, your comfort is our priority. An entire building of the former US Army officer quarters has been meticulously remodeled into a youth hostel, offering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. With a capacity to accommodate up to 240 guests, the hostel features well-appointed rooms spread across the second and third floors. On the first floor, you’ll find an office and a small auditorium, perfect for educational presentations and workshops. The fourth floor boasts a large auditorium, ideal for larger gatherings and events.
