In 1990, the Maninsan Service Area was built within the recreational forest with private capital.
What sets this facility apart is its harmonious integration with the natural surroundings. Care was taken to preserve the forest’s integrity during construction, utilizing the existing valleys and minimizing any damage to the environment.
Featuring decks built over the valleys and a semi-underground structure, the Maninsan Service Area is widely regarded as one of the most beautifully constructed rest areas in Korea. A pond was even created to further enhance the natural landscape.

One of the highlights is the Manillugak pavilion, a symbolic recreational facility of Maninsan. Inspired by the architectural style of Segeomjeong Pavilion in Seoul, it seamlessly blends traditional Korean aesthetics with modern materials like reinforced concrete.
With its two-story wooden tile roof, Manillugak captures the essence of Korean traditional architecture while offering a practical and visually stunning space for visitors to enjoy.
