Daegwallyeong Natural Recreation Forest
Perched atop the Daegwallyeong summit, which serves as a watershed between the eastern and western regions of Korea, Daegwallyeong Natural Recreation Forest is a camping haven nestled amidst a beautiful pine forest. From here, one can enjoy panoramic views of Gangneung City and the East Sea to the east. The forest is located near the old Daegwallyeong trail, with its well-paved hill paths occasionally revealing glimpses of the old trail.
The forest is situated just north of Jemangsan mountain, right above Samboam Park, a popular spot among the locals of Gangneung. Daegwallyeong forest is home to some of the most majestic old-growth pine forests in Korea, providing an optimal relaxation space for families seeking rest and forest bathing. The forest is well-equipped with various amenities that harmonize with the pine forest.
Its close proximity to Gangneung City makes it a perfect base for exploring historical sites such as Gyeongpodae and Ojukheon in and around Gangneung, while enjoying the stunning sea views. The forest is divided into two zones, with a training facility for groups in the left valley and recreational facilities for families in the right valley.
