Welcome to Hanok Guesthouse Dongchonchae [Korea Quality], a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Seoul’s historic Seochon neighborhood. This charming hanok, built in 1939, has been meticulously preserved and was designated as Seoul Well Hanok in 2016. In recognition of its historicity and exceptional services, it was awarded the Certificate of KOREA QUALITY from the Korea Tourism Organization in 2020.

As you step through the main gate, you’ll be greeted by a tranquil yard surrounded by the anchae, sarangchae, and byeolchae, each with its own unique atmosphere. The anchae boasts four cozy rooms, a wood-floored main hall called daecheong, a kitchen, and a restroom. One of the rooms even doubles as a tea ceremony space, offering a glimpse into traditional Korean culture.

Guests staying at Dongchonchae have the privilege of exploring the numaru, a raised open floor, and the serene yard. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing, immersing yourself in the peaceful ambiance of this traditional hanok.

Accommodations at Dongchonchae are designed to provide comfort and authenticity. The rooms “Bom” and “Yeoreum” can accommodate 2 to 3 adults each, while the rooms “Gaeul” (Tea Room) and “Gyeoul” are ideal for two guests. The entire building is rented out to one group at a time, ensuring privacy and exclusivity. With a standard occupancy of four persons and a maximum capacity of eight, it’s an ideal choice for families or small groups.

Throughout your stay, you’ll have access to two restrooms, one within the anchae building and another in the backyard. While cooking is not allowed in the kitchen, you’re more than welcome to bring in outside food to satisfy your cravings. And if you’re looking for unique experiences, Dongchonchae offers a range of activities including nighttime exploration of Seoul City Wall, tea ceremonies, folk songs, and even rice cake making. Please note that additional payment is only required for the rice cake making experience.

To start your day off right, you can indulge in a complimentary breakfast. Choose between a traditional Korean meal, complete with rice, soup, and three side dishes, or a Western-style breakfast featuring bread, salad, and coffee. Whichever you choose, it’s bound to be a delightful culinary experience.

For entertainment, Dongchonchae provides a 100-inch screen and mini projector for film watching in the yard or daecheong. Towels, toiletries, a hairdryer, bottled water, traditional tea, and capsule coffee are all included in your stay. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, a microwave, and a coffee pot, perfect for enjoying instant meals. Additionally, guests have access to a refrigerator and washing machine, adding convenience to your stay.
