Firefly Valley Campground: A Sparkling Sanctuary Nestled in Nature
Firefly Valley Campground, or ‘반딧골캠핑장’ as it’s locally known, is a camping utopia surrounded by pristine nature. Located near Deogyusan National Park and Naje Tongmun, the old frontier of Silla and Baekje, it spans an area of 10,000㎡ and comprises around 20 camping sites.
Despite being a gravel site, the rounded pebbles make it safe even for children if they happen to stumble. The campground also features a convenience store at the entrance selling basic supplies and operating a communal refrigerator, ideal for those whose ice boxes may be getting a tad too cramped.
Experience Nature in its Full Glory
Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, the campground is near a valley that makes for a perfect summer retreat. With shallow water, it’s a safe and fun spot for kids to frolic around in. For a deposit of 5,000 won, you can also rent a tube and a life jacket. Moreover, you can even catch fish and freshwater snails in the clear water.
Attractions & Activities
The campground’s vicinity is rich with attractions such as the Chilyeon Waterfall, Meru Wine Cave, Taekwondo Park Observatory, Mooju Traditional Health Center, and Mooju Deogyusan Resort. The venue is also near the Mooju Firefly Festival site, which takes place every September. It could be a great idea to time your camping trip with the festival. However, note that the campground is closed for winter maintenance and will reopen in May 2019.
Features and Benefits
One of the unique features of this site is the man-made stream flowing through the campground, allowing you to dip your feet and relax.
