About the Restaurant: Suri Suri Bong Bong (수리수리봉봉)
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Suri Suri Bong Bong (pronounced “Soo-ri Soo-ri Bong Bong”), a hidden gem nestled near the scenic Sainam Rock in Danyang County, Chungbuk Province. This unique restaurant, run by farmers, is a specialty café serving up dishes centered around duck and mountain vegetables.
Despite its humble façade, the warmth and earnestness of the restaurant permeates through every interaction. The owners greet each guest warmly and take the time to explain the dishes, allowing you to feel the comfort of a mother’s touch in their service.
The Magic Table Spread in a Cool Valley
The restaurant’s slogan,”The Magic Table Spread in a Cool Valley”. This encapsulates the essence of the restaurant’s commitment to providing healthy, organic dishes in a serene and refreshing environment.
Gourmet Delights and Healthy Eats
The highlight of dining at Suri Suri Bong Bong would have to be their pickles made from wild vegetables harvested from the surrounding mountains. Using a low salt, low temperature aging method, they offer an assortment of pickles including Gomchwi (Houttuynia cordata), Dandelion, Dorip (Aralia elata), Elm Tree Shoots and Dropwort, served as a staple side dish.
